President Obama Announces Green Jobs Initiative

Momentum for green jobs continues to build; today is deadline for Green Jobs Award

President Obama announced the Better Buildings Initiative Monday during a visit to NC’s Cree, a leading manufacturer of energy efficient LED lighting systems that employs 1,900 people in Durham. The new initiative will put construction workers back to work retrofitting existing commercial buildings with energy-efficient lighting systems, saving businesses up to $40 billion in utility bills annually and creating good green jobs.

The Green Jobs Award program, produced by SJF Institute, is accepting applicants through the end of the day today to recognize more private businesses that are making valuable contributions to both the economy and the environment. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the story of successful green businesses creating needed jobs for U.S. workers – apply before 11:59 pm tonight to be considered for a Green Jobs Award. www.greenjobsaward.org/apply.  As President Obama said Monday at Cree, “It is a win-win-win proposition.”
